A Rod That Actually Handles Iceland’s Worst Weather

If you’ve ever fished here in Iceland, you already know that the wind and the crazy, changing weather are just a part of life. To get any fishing done out here, you need a rod that gives you absolute control and precision on every single cast, no matter how bad the conditions get.

What I love most about the Solid S1 is that you can really tell it was designed by people who actually fish. When you're out on the water, you don't want to be fighting your gear; you just want to focus on the river and your next cast.

This rod gives you so much confidence when a big fish is finally on the line. It's incredibly responsive, packs a ton of power, and just feels totally reliable.

As a huge bonus, these rods come in what Solid calls "Travel Size." For example, my 9'6" 7-weight rod is a 5-piece, and my light spey rods (the 7 and 8-weights) are both 6-pieces. They easily fit right into my bag when I’m traveling around.

Honestly, the travel size is just a great bonus—the real reason to get this rod is the performance. If you want a rod that can actually handle the elements, I can't recommend the S1 series enough.
